Invisalign – the clear choice for orthodontic treatment

Invisalign treatment is one of the most popular orthodontic treatment options available today. Invented in 1995 by a Stanford graduate, Invisalign took the orthodontic world by storm when it came onto the market in 1999. Patients love Invisalign because it offers a clear, comfortable, and removable way to get the smile they’ve always wanted.

We are a Diamond+ Top 1% Provider of Invisalign!

Invisalign is a way to correct your teeth without anyone knowing you’re wearing braces. A series of clear aligners in Nashua are created from smooth, invisible plastic just for you. They slowly move your teeth with gentle pressure and are replaced every two weeks.

HOW DO I WEAR MY ALIGNERS?

You should wear your aligners from 20 to 22 hours a day. You should remove them every time you eat, drink, brush and floss to ensure nothing is trapped within the tray.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Many people choose Invisalign in Nashua or Danvers because no one can tell you are straightening your teeth. The plastic is not only clear, but comfortable. You do not have to worry about the discomfort that may be associated with the metal and wires that comes with traditional braces. This also means that eating and cleaning your teeth will be easier, as it is less likely for food to become trapped. You also change your trays on your own, which means you spend less time at the doctor because you are not having wires tightened and adjusted.

Invisalign offers a few benefits over traditional metal braces. They include:

  1. Invisalign aligners are clear, making them almost invisible when worn. This makes them highly discreet and an excellent option for patients who don’t want to draw more attention to themselves while in treatment.
  2. Invisalign is comfortable. There are no brackets or wires to irritate the insides of the mouth or tongue. The aligners are made of a smooth plastic that fits snugly over the teeth.
  3. Invisalign is removable. You won’t have to alter your diet or give up your favorite foods during treatment because you’ll simply pop them out before eating. And, you don’t have to worry about needing extra time to brush and floss around brackets and wires. Just pop out the aligners and your oral care routine is a snap.

HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?

Dr. Chelian will take 3D digital images of your teeth to help map out the process of your tooth movement. From here, he can give you a plan of how your teeth will move and projected time frame. Each tray is designed to be slightly smaller than the last, so your teeth are moved through controlled force. The aligners also control the timing of teeth movement because only certain teeth are moved through each transition.

Invisalign uses sets of clear, removable aligners to guide teeth to their ideal positions. Each aligner set is custom created for the individual patient and designed to achieve a certain tooth movement. Patients wear each set for approximately 22 hours a day for two weeks before switching to the next set in their series. The aligners place the correct amount of pressure needed to guide the teeth to where they should be. You’ll maintain regular checkups with your orthodontist to ensure your teeth are responding properly and your treatment stays on track.

Invisalign: A Patient Journey

How much does Invisalign cost?

Invisalign is very much on par with the cost of traditional braces, making it an affordable option for most patients. It is also typically covered under dental insurance plans. The exact cost of your treatment will depend on a few factors, including the severity of your malocclusion.

How do I care for my aligners?

Caring for your aligners will be a very important part of your treatment. Here are some tips:

  • Maintain excellent oral hygiene. Always brush and floss after eating before placing your aligners back in. When you can’t brush, be sure to thoroughly rinse your mouth with water to prevent food debris from getting trapped under the aligners.
  • Never eat or drink anything other than plain water with your aligners in. Eating with your aligners can damage them, making them less likely to work properly. Drinking anything other than water can make them susceptible to staining, which will then make them more noticeable in your mouth.
  • Never drink hot beverages or soak in hot water. This can warp the plastic, thereby affecting the fit and how well they can guide the teeth.
  • Clean your aligners properly. Use a soaking solution, such as retainer or denture cleaner, or Invisalign Cleaning Crystals, every few days. Brush your aligners using a soft bristled toothbrush and a clear, unscented anti-bacterial soap. Rinse and dry them thoroughly after each cleaning.
  • Remember to wear your aligners as directed. That means 20-22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
  • Always keep your aligners in their case when they aren’t in your mouth. This can prevent you from accidentally throwing them away or losing them.
