Clear Aligners

Discover the clear, comfortable, removable way to get the smile of your dreams

Clear aligners have grown in popularity since they were introduced, and today are one of the most popular ways to get the smile of your dreams. There are a host of reasons why patients love clear aligners. At the top of that list is because the aligners are:

  • Clear
  • Comfortable
  • Removable

What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners are an orthodontic treatment option that lets patients get the smiles of their dreams as discreetly as possible. They are custom-created, BPA-free plastic trays that are designed to fit snugly over the teeth. When you begin treatment, you are given a series of aligner sets. Each set is perfectly calibrated to achieve a certain movement and will be worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next set. Gentle pressure is placed, carefully guiding the teeth to their desired locations. The aligners are removable, so users take them out to eat, drinks, brush, and floss.

What are the advantages of clear aligners?

Patients love that clear aligners are designed to be so clear they are almost invisible in the mouth. There are no brackets or wires to irritate the inside of the mouth. And because they are removable, you don’t have to adjust your diet or spend extra time brushing and flossing. Simply pop the aligners out when eating or drinking anything but plain water, and to brush and floss as normal. Clear aligners are comfortable and discrete.

Are clear aligners right for me?

The only way to know which treatment option is best to meet your unique needs is by scheduling a consultation with an orthodontist. Today’s clear aligners can treat most malocclusions, however, the most severe may still require traditional braces to correct. The most common issues treated with clear aligners include:

  • Gaps/spacing issues
  • Crowding
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open bite
  • Crossbite
  • Crooked teeth

Will aligner treatment be covered by dental insurance?

Dental insurance plans vary; however, most plans that offer orthodontic coverage will also include coverage for clear aligners. It is important to understand your policy, however, because each plan is different. Be sure you have a clear idea of what your policy will cover prior to beginning treatment.

Are clear aligners more expensive than traditional braces?

Clear aligners used to be more expensive than traditional braces, however, today’s cost is very similar. The average cost of metal braces is $3,000-$7,000, while the average cost of clear aligners is $3,500-$8,000. The exact cost of your treatment will depend on several factors, including the severity of your malocclusion.
