Back to School Braces Tips
Posted on August 17, 2017
If you were one of the lucky ones to get your braces in Nashua this summer, you may be wondering how your school life may change. Well, with a little preparation, we’re happy to say the change won’t be too drastic, don’t worry! We’ve included several tips below as you make your way back to school to make the transition a little bit smoother. As always, if you ever have any questions, feel free to contact our office or email us!
Tip #1: BRUSHING AT SCHOOL
Yes, we know. This is probably the biggest adjustment you’ll need to make. You WILL need to brush your teeth after lunch so be sure to pack a toothbrush and toothpaste. Many of our patients purchase the travel size kit for easy transport! A floss pik may come in handy too!
Tip #2: DON’T FORGET YOUR WAX
You never know when a pesky pokey wire could pop up. Keep extra wax in your backpack or purse and your locker. If you play a musical instrument, keep some wax in your instrument case. You may need it!
Tip #3: RUBBER BANDS
Wearing your elastics, if prescribed by Dr. Chelian, is an important aspect of your treatment to ensure you get your braces off on time. Be sure to keep extra elastics in your bag to replace after lunch.
Tip #4: WEAR A MOUTH GUARD
Playing contact sports this year? Protect your teeth and your braces – WEAR A MOUTH GUARD. If your team is in need of mouth guards, you may qualify for FREE professionally fitted mouth guards with Dr. Chelian’s mouth guard program. Contact us to find out!
Tip #5: STEER CLEAR OF THE NONO FOODS
Your mom’s not going to be around to slap your wrist before eating the nono foods so be responsible! Remember to avoid the sticky, chewy and crunchy foods that can break your brackets and appliances.
We hope these Back to School braces tips are helpful. And we wish you a successful and fun school year!
